Halloween Cookies

1 c     white sugar
3/4 c  shortening
1/4c   dark molasses
1 egg

Cream above and blend.  Now add, sifted together:
2 c     flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp  cloves
1 tsp  ginger
2 tsp baking soda

Mold into balls - about the size of a small egg.  Roll in granulated sugar.  Place on slightly greased cookie sheet.  Leave pleanty of room to spread.  Flatten with the bottom of a glass to 2-3" in diameter.  Bake at 350° for 10-12 min.  Cool for a minute befopre removing from pan.  Decorate with orange frosting to stick on decorations.  Makes 15-20 cookies, depending on size.  May only need 8 - 10 min baking time, depending on your oven. 

Use: M&M's for eyes, chocolate chips for nose, candy corn for mouth.
